A Day at the Races

It was a weekend filled with Laughter and Races.  My Dad turned an age of late 40-something this weekend and we decided to celebrate with a day at Emerald Downs in Auburn.  The weather in the Seattle area was AMAZING.  We haven’t had much of a summer, and with the end of July approaching, everyone was losing hope.  We arrived in the early afternoon and hopped right into the wagering and excitement. The track was unusually busy, partly due to the great weather and also the Annual Star 101.5 Wiener Dog Races.  My family made a few modest bets, no one winning big. Until the final race, where my Grandma and I put it down on  the #5 horse-Fannytastic. With a name like that, how could you not bet? After a crazy 1/2 mile, Fanny was modestly hanging in the middle. At the 3/4 mile she was pulling further ahead…PHOTO FINISH! Fannytastic came out the winner, and well, so did my Gram and me.  A great day was had by all.
