We needed to unplug. Like, step away from all things electronic, get a dog sitter and take off as a couple, unplug. Me and the Handsome headed out to a little place of private serenity called Tree House Point. Who knew such a lovely little paradise existed. I watched a travel special that featured this gem and had seen the work of its mastermind Pete Nelson in the book Tree Houses of the World. The Handsome has always wanted to build such a structure in our small suburban backyard, so instead of shooting down all of his lofty dreams, I decided this would give him inspiration to yearn for more space, more trees, more nature, and the adventure of living his childhood dream. These Tree Houses are full of character, comfort and simple elegance. We stayed in the Trillium Tree House. It is a lofted, tall house with the world’s most comfortable bed, a view of the cedars and the pond below on one side, the river on the other. We were greeted by friendly staff when we arrived, left to our privacy for the evening, and were treated with a delicious homemade breakfast of the most delicious homemade granola, fresh eggs, fruit, and warm ginger banana bread. I highly recommend this beautiful little getaway for a night or a week.
