Late Summer Adventures

It is  my favorite time of year; September. Where summer and fall collide in a crisp morning, warm afternoon kind of way. The cool evenings allow for more adventuring, and there is just enough light to enjoy an adventure before it gets dark. I spent some time up in Okanogan County this week. I’ve fallen in love with this gorgeous place and have been plotting how to uproot my current life and plop it on down somewhere up there. Here are a few beautiful things found.

Clear Lake, Clear Mind

It was time to pack up, power down, and go straight to the lake for me and one of my best friends. No husbands. No children (both human and canine). Just girls.  We met on White Pass at Indian Creek Campground and spent the entire day fishing (and reading) at Clear Lake.  It was a beautiful little blue paradise. Mt. Rainier was on my trail home, and I couldn’t resist a stop to take it all in. Even though only one fish was caught for the weekend, we both were able to unwind and reconnect.  Such a relaxing little mini trip.

Mountain Lakes

I was really lucky to grow up in a place that offered many opportunities to enjoy nature.  That is part of the reason I feel most at home amonst the mountains, lakes, and trees of the Cascades.  I had a few extra moments to enjoy Lake Cle Elum this weekend in between visits to family and friends.  The water was clear, uncharacteristically calm, and quiet.  My toes were happy to take a dip.
