Around the Farm

Capturing textures and details can be the best part of taking photos. I spend some time finding different lighting, color, and texture a few weeks back. It was time to take a small break from the fun family sessions that have been keeping me so busy!

Grey and Red

Winter has it’s own color scheme around the Pacific Northwest.  This year, the weather has been extraordinarily mild.  It is the first year that I can remember with such little snow in the mountains.  What would normally would be blanketed in snow, is a stark grey or covered in the frozen frosting left in the morning after a clear night. For some reason, the grey makes reds pop for me.  Here are a couple of wandering shots from my mini-break with my favorite – The Natural Ginger  while hanging out at Lake Cle Elum and the always beautiful Ritter Farms.

Home Frost

I love coming home. Not only to the home I’ve built with The Handsome, but the home I remember more than any- My Grandma’s house.  It was always comfortable, full of love, and so warm. So many memories that have been made, and still to come.

The best time there is early in the morning, on a very cold day, where you can leave the comforts of the wood stove in the back room and venture out into the orchard to roam.  It was an unusual and green Christmas gathering, but it was not without frosting.

Late Fall Textures

Thanksgiving means coming home to my Gram’s house to enjoy family, a woodstove fire, and the most delicious turkey this side of the world. I find myself happy, warm, and possibly with wine glass in hand on my favorite peice of land. Here are a few textures from this little peice of heaven.
